Richard Hamje is the Executive Director of Car-Less Carbon, Inc.
I live in Beaverton, Oregon a suburb of Portland best known as the headquarters of Nike. For the past year my wife and I have been attempting to live a suburban lifestyle without driving. It has been mostly a success – we have it down to about 20 miles per month. I am writing a book on the American dilemma related to transportation – we love our cars but they are killing us in more ways than one.
A caveat – I am not a transportation planner, or a traffic engineer, or even a mechanic. I don’t have any special knowledge about cars. But I do have a background in analysis, and a lifetime of critical thinking. Also some formal education, a B.Sc. in management and MBA in e-business, which helps me crunch the numbers.
You can write me directly if you wish – richard (at) carlesscarbon (dot) org
